It's that time of year again!  Getting ready to head to Louisville.
Don't wait until the last minute to look for your hat for the Kentucky Derby!  Come to the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft's hat social this Friday. I will be on hand to help you choose that perfect hat.

I named this hat Lupita, as it reminds me of the dress that Academy Award-winning actress, Lupita Nyong'o, wore to the 2014 Oscars.  I love her style, grace and of course, talent!

Happy New Year!  I’m looking forward to a magical year filled with many achievements and dreams coming true!

I just got back from London, where it's always good to spend time visiting family and friends!  And of course shopping for millinery supplies.  I love how easily accessible millinery supplies are, and the simplicity of hopping on a bus or train to the various locations.   Much better than having to order online and then sit and wait (sometimes impatiently) for delivery.

My visit began with a scrumptious champagne tea at the Sketch.

The last two weeks of my visit were particularly cold; strong winds and so much rain!  But I didn’t let the stormy weather interfere with my planned visit to Somerset House to see the Isabella Blow exhibit.

I LOVED every minute that I spent wandering around, admiring each standout piece, and getting to know more about this fascinating woman.  Isabella had impeccable taste.  She coordinated her outfits perfectly with pieces by such designers as Philip Treacy,  Alexander McQueen,  Manolo Blahnik, Hussein Chalayan, Julien McDonald and more.   An exhibit not to be missed whether you're into hats, shoes, avant garde clothing, or just simply a lover of high fashion!  For those of you who can’t make it, check out this video:

Isabella should have her own permanent exhibit and I hope one day this will happen.  I also think a movie should be made about her very intriguing life.  I believe it could be inspirational in many ways. Lady Gaga comes to mind as the perfect person to cast as Isabella.

I love having afternoon tea at the Savoy Hotel.  I always leave feeling full!

   I see a hat in everything ...
including these tasty looking treats as seen in the window of a bakery on Carnaby street.

And now it’s time for me to focus on the year ahead, as I busy myself creating new headwear!

                                                  Here's to out-of-the-box ideas for 2014!

Can't believe three months have skipped by since I last did a bit of blogging!  Been busy as a bee working on multiple projects at once, including headwear for winter weddings and I'm pleased to say that my Spring/Summer 2014 collection is ready (which is a first for me - I'm so proud).

Some of my hats were featured in a recent photo shoot with The Elegant Voyager classic car company, at Lennox Cato Antiques and Stonewall Park in Edenbridge:

Models:  Rahel, Nigel, Holly and Peter

Been travelling back and forth doing what I love best! Derby and Royal Ascot seasons were exhausting but also amazing and now looking forward to working on my next project... after my mini vacation.
Didn't get a chance to take many photos, but here are a handful.

Hmmm... which one do I choose?

 This one chose me.

I'm always excited to spend a day at la maison de Madame Marie O'Reagan! There's always a new master millinery technique to learn, and I get to spend quality time with one of the sweetest people
I have ever met.

Beata, Marie and Izzy working on some couture pieces.

Oh and Marie's champagne lunches are irresitable too!

Here we are modeling some of Marie's amazing headpieces with Marie.

Here are some photos of the flapper hat I made using Jelly Bellys, now on display at
the Jelly Belly museum, along with the dress made by Jessie Smith-Larson.
